This isn't the Babylon Bee. Howard U., the flagship school in the HBCU system, is removing the Classics department. That's the department where you go to learn things like Western Culture, Greek Myths, Shakespeare ... things like that.
In a development that goes against the current clownish and reactionary zeitgeist, Cornel West and Jeremy Tate have spoken out. They are brave souls:
In criticizing the move, West and Tate nail the essence of what is going on in schule:They don't know the half of it. Not only is school jargon filled virtue signaling, it's a world where everyone goes through the Shirley Jackson "The Lottery" style motions. At the end of the process the student is intellectually stoned to death.
Today's students, particularly in the Humanities, learn things like American History, which consists of:
- Founding of the USA on the backs of slaves (1619 Project).
- Slavery.
- Jim Crow.
- Today, the era of White Supremacy.
Think I'm kidding? Ask an 11th grader about American History.
West and Tate know that only feelings matter. What they call 'intellectual narrowness' is manifested in our young people believing that posting what they 'feel' about current events on Twitter counts as intense and deep intellectual scholarship.
Woodrow Wilson's dream about the purpose of school has come true:
My Udemy classes are here - extremely low price and you have them forever.
I also sell custom made mugs. I'll do personalized orders as well. They are all made in the United States - in Pennsylvania.
All of the mugs are here on Gearbubble. These are made in the USA, and if you don't want to contribute to Amazon's record profits during this time of CV19, the Gearbubble link is the one to use. Thank you!
